SPEAKING OF MAKING: The Relevance of Comics in Contemporary Culture: A Conversation with Aatmaja Pandya, Wiley Miller, and Geo Sipp

Speaking of Making is AIR Serenbe’s ongoing series of investigations & conversations about work and the creative process.

Join as we look closer at the work of Aatmaja Pandya, recipient of 2016's Inkpot Focus Fellowship, awarded to an artist working in sequential narrative: illustration, comics, graphic novels, animation, gaming, et al.  We will then engage in a broader conversation with Aatmaja, Wiley Miller, and Geo Sipp about the relevance of comics in contemporary culture.  Wiley is the creator of Non Sequitur, the award-winning comic strip syndicated to over 700 newspapers. Geo, Director of the School of Arts at Kennesaw State University, is developing an illustration program that will focus on sequential narrative, both for the sake of cartooning and comics, and also to serve the storyboarding needs of the growing animation, gaming, film, and television industry in Georgia.

A reception will follow.
